Pune University To Organise COVID Vaccination For Students In Colleges

Pune, 8th July 2021: Vaccination of foreign students at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) started today. The vaccination program is being implemented in collaboration with the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Pune and the World Organization of Students and Youth. More than 200 students who registered online at the university’s health centre were vaccinated.

SPPU Vice-Chancellor Dr Nitin Karmalkar, Pro-Vice Chancellor NS Umrani, Registrar Dr Praful Pawar, Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, Management Council Member Rajesh Pandey, Prasenjit Fadnavis, Senate Member Bhagyashree Manthalkar, Director of International Centre Dr Vijay Khare, Divisional Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Anuja Chakraborty, were present during the inauguration of the vaccination program.

Mohol said that with the help of the university, students will be vaccinated in all educational institutions in the near future.

Dr Vijay Khare said that this vaccination program is establishing cultural ties at the international level and these students will represent India as ambassadors.

This is the first time in the country that foreign students are being vaccinated in this manner. It is our intention to vaccinate students of India as well as foreign students, Karmalkar said.
