Pune: Unprecedented Turnout Of Over 10 Lakh Applications For Talathi Recruitment Exam This Year

Pune, 15th August 2023: The Talathi recruitment exam has witnessed an astounding surge in applications this year, with a staggering 1,040,713 candidates vying for positions in Maharashtra. Notably, this year’s recruitment process has accorded preference to physically challenged and female candidates, underscoring a commitment to inclusivity and diversity.
However, due to a confluence of factors, including candidates’ district preferences and other logistical considerations, several examinees have been assigned examination centers outside their districts. The Land Records Department, in a clarification issued late Monday night, addressed the concerns arising from this situation. The Talathi recruitment exam is scheduled to take place from August 17 to September 14.
A noteworthy trend emerged, revealing that a significant number of candidates were assigned examination centers located far from their originally selected preferences. Responding to this issue, an emergency meeting convened under the leadership of Jamabandi Commissioner Niranjan Sudhanshu deliberated over the matter, given the imminent commencement of the examination on Thursday.
An overview of the recruitment process elucidated that an extensive pool of applications, totaling 1,040,713 after careful scrutiny, was received. Such an overwhelming response necessitated a meticulous approach in allocating examination centers. Consequently, priority was granted to physically challenged and female candidates during this allocation. Pune district witnessed a particularly high influx of applications, with 134,000 candidates indicating their preference for this region. Out of this group, 114,000 candidates were successfully allotted centers within Pune district itself.
In instances where candidates were informed that examination centers would be designated within a 200-kilometer radius upon announcement of the exam, the surge in applications posed unique challenges. Additionally, the selection of centers equipped with a certified cyber security framework further narrowed down the options, leading to situations where some candidates were assigned centers exceeding the 200-kilometer range.
A peculiar observation arose in cases where candidates from Bhandara district opted for examination centers in Sindhudurg district. As a result, some candidates were voluntarily assigned distant centers, while others faced this arrangement due to unforeseen constraints, elucidated Additional Jamabandi Commissioner Anand Raite.
As the Talathi recruitment exam draws near, candidates are advised to report to their designated examination centers ninety minutes prior to the scheduled time. Admit cards essential for the examination will be systematically accessible through the Land Records Department website, conveyed Additional Jamabandi Commissioner Raite.
