Pune: Urban Forest Park To Come Up On 35 Acres In Warje Area

Warje, 20th August 2021: The ‘Sanjeevan Van Udyan’ to be jointly developed in Warje by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Forest Department will come to be known as the Oxygen Park, stated Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar today. He also suggested that indigenous tree planting should be given priority while planting trees in the urban forest area of ​​Pune.

The ‘Sanjeevan Van Udyan’ is being set up on a 35 acre land of the Forest Department near Dukkar Khindi in Warje. The groundbreaking ceremony of the project was held by Deputy Chief Minister Pawar today. Minister of State for Forests Dattatraya Bharane, Leader of Opposition of Pune Municipal Corporation Deepali Dhumal, Corporator Baburao Chandere, Corporator Dilip Barate, Sachin Dodke, Corporator Laxmi Dudhane, Prashant Jagtap, Baba Dhumal along with Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, Additional Commissioner Kunal Khemnar, Chief Conservator of Forests Sujay Dodal, Deputy Conservator of Forests Rahul Patil were also present.

Deputy CM Pawar said that the transformation of ‘Sanjeevan Van Udyan’ into a beautiful park would be a perfect example of biodiversity conservation. This biodiversity park will come to be known as Oxygen Park. Along with beautification, pollution control, a good oxygen park will be created for the citizens of Warje, Kothrud area.

He also directed the forest department to plan and speed up tree planting on hills and open forest lands near the metropolis and also to give priority to native tree planting while planting trees.

Stating that the ‘Sanjeevan Van Udyan’ project will help in conserving the environment and it will have a variety of trees. The citizens who come to this park will get good air. Everyone understands the importance of oxygen due to the Coronavirus disease (COVID19) pandemic. For this, we built many oxygen plants. But it is a natural plant and needs to be maintained. Otherwise, future generations will not forgive you. Therefore, public participation is very important for tree planting, he said.
