Viman Nagar, 30th August 2025: Residents of Viman Nagar and Kalyani Nagar have urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Pune Traffic Police to take immediate action on their long-pending demand for the closure of the Gera 77 road gap near the Ramwadi underpass.

In a joint representation submitted on August 29, 2025, to PMC Chief Engineer (Road Department) Aniruddha Pawaskar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Himmat Jadhav, Viman Tal Traffic Police Inspector Ravindra Kadam, and PMC Executive Engineer (Road Department) Sanjay Dharav, residents requested that the first road gap in the direction of VIP Airport Road to Kalyani Nagar be permanently closed.

According to the residents, the gap creates severe traffic congestion as vehicles attempt to access the service road towards Nagar Road and the office of Jagdish Mullik. They highlighted that due to a curve on the stretch, vehicles coming from Kalyani Nagar are not visible, leading to frequent traffic jams.

“The Joseph Colony gap, located about 20 meters away, is broader and safer for U-turns. It allows clear visibility of oncoming vehicles and should remain open, while the Gera 77 gap must be closed permanently with a wall,” the representation stated.

Residents also attached photos and videos to support their case and expressed frustration that despite raising the issue for the past 10 months, no concrete action has been taken.

“We trust there will be no further delay in reducing the inconvenience to the tax-paying public. This is purely a matter of public interest, and no one should object,” the signatories said.

The letter was signed by multiple citizens from both Viman Nagar and Kalyani Nagar, including Qaneez Sukhrani, Krupali Bhatt, Sanjay Gupta, Umesh Magar, Vivek Deo, Deepak Singh Rajput, Rachna Agarwal, Drayson C. Dixon, Jafar Iqbal, Firdosh Roowala, and Purnima Joshi.

Residents now await swift action from PMC and the traffic department to resolve the issue.
