Kondhwa, 17 November 2025: Addressing the growing complexity of legal disputes in India’s healthcare sector, the Faculty of Law at Vishwakarma University brought together legal and medical experts for the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) and Healthcare Summit 2025. The summit focused on the transformative role of ADR in resolving conflicts in the healthcare industry.

Organised by Samyak – Centre for Mediation and Arbitration, the event highlighted the university’s commitment to bridging academic learning with real-world dispute resolution practices. Established in March 2025, Samyak serves as a platform for skills training, capacity building, and interdisciplinary engagement in mediation and arbitration.

The summit was inaugurated by Principal District and Sessions Judge of Pune, M.K. Mahajan, in the presence of Hemant Zanjad, President of Pune Bar Association, and senior advocate Pratap Pardeshi.

Addressing the gathering, Judge Mahajan emphasised the constitutional significance of ADR, saying, “As a judge, spreading awareness about ADR is not only my legal but constitutional duty. The future of young lawyers in mediation and arbitration is very bright.”

A panel discussion featuring Dr. Surekha Kashyap, Aniruddha Rajurkar, Dr. Prasad Thakurdesai, Dr. Ujwala Shinde, and Advocate Aman Dutta, moderated by Adv. Tejas Hule, explored the application of ADR in cases of medical negligence, patient grievances, institutional disputes, and regulatory challenges.
Highlighting the institutional importance of the initiative, Vice Chancellor Prof. Mukund Kulkarni said, “Platforms like Samyak align with our vision of ‘Maximising Human Potential’ and represent a meaningful step in strengthening legal education.”

Dean of Faculty of Law Dr. Apurva Bhilare added, “ADR is the need of the hour, and we must equip our students with the skills to provide it. The insights shared by the panel members have greatly enhanced our knowledge pool.”

Samyak aims to evolve into a comprehensive ecosystem for mediation and arbitration, offering experiential learning opportunities and contributing to wider access to justice, particularly in specialised domains like healthcare.
