Wagholi, 30th August 2025: Expressing frustration over the poor condition of Wagholi-Kesnand Road, residents, senior citizens, women, and members of various housing societies staged a protest on Saturday morning near Konark Orchid Gate in Wagholi. The demonstration was organized by the Wagholi Housing Societies Association (WHSA) along with the WACO Welfare Association.

The road is a vital link connecting Pune-Nagar Road (NH 753F) with Kesnand, Wadebolhai, Bakori, Theur, and other villages in Haveli taluka. It is also lined with schools, residential societies, and commercial establishments. However, residents alleged that despite its importance, the road has been neglected by authorities, including the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the Public Works Department (PWD).

According to WHSA, the road is in a dilapidated state, marred by potholes, waterlogging, and inadequate width to handle heavy daily traffic. Repeated petitions to the authorities have allegedly gone unanswered, with only patchwork repairs carried out.

Local leaders Sandip Satav, Shantaram Bapu Katke, Prakash Bhau Jamdade, WHSA’s Ankush Dey, Gopal Dhole, Sandesh Lokhande and Santosh Krishna joined the protest and assured residents that the issue would be raised with Deputy Chief Minister and Pune’s Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar, as well as with the PWD and PMC.

“We will take up the matter of road widening and proper development of all roads in Wagholi with the Guardian Minister and concerned departments,” Satav said.

Residents demanded that all connecting roads from Kesnand, Awhalwadi, Bakori, Lohgaon, Bawdi, and Phulmala to Pune-Nagar Road be widened and developed on priority.

The protest concluded peacefully under the supervision of Wagholi Police, with support and bandobast arranged by Senior Police Inspector Yuvraj Hande.
