Pune Weather Alert: Thunderstorms, Winds Up to 60 kmph Likely in Next Few Hours

Pune, 7th May 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday afternoon issued a nowcast warning for Pune, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty winds, and moderate rain in isolated parts of the district over the next few hours.
According to the bulletin issued at 1:00 PM IST on May 7, 2025, the IMD has warned of gusty winds reaching speeds of 50–60 kmph, along with light to moderate rainfall and lightning activity. The weather event is expected to impact isolated areas in Pune, Mumbai, Dhule, and Jalgaon districts during the next 3–4 hours.
“People are advised to take necessary precautions while moving outdoors,” the IMD Mumbai centre stated.
While no major disruptions have been reported so far, authorities and emergency services have been put on alert to respond quickly in case of any incidents resulting from the fast-changing weather conditions.
Commuters, particularly two-wheeler riders, and those living in low-lying or exposed areas are urged to remain indoors or seek shelter during the storm.
The warning comes as unseasonal weather patterns have been observed across parts of Maharashtra in recent weeks, with sudden bursts of rain and wind reported even during otherwise dry spells.
This is a developing story. Residents are advised to follow updates from the IMD and local authorities.
