Pune: Women Workers From Unorganised Sector To Get Six Months Paid Maternity Leave

Pune, 9th June 2021: Pune Zilla Parishad has taken an important step to address the malnutrition problem. Now the women from the unorganised sector will get maternity leave which will ensure that the mother gets adequate rest and proper nutrition. The child thus will be healthy, feel the officers.

According to officials, lactating women too will get the leave. Women working as daily wage labourers hardly get rest. As per the scheme, pregnant and lactating women will get some financial help. Two months before the delivery and four months after the delivery this financial help will be provided to them.

The women who have their annual income less than Rs 1.20 lakh come under it. Thus, a woman will get six months of paid leaves.

ZP CEO Ayush Prasad said, “Women and Child welfare department will be implementing a first of its kind scheme for the poor women. The aim behind it is to look after the health of the women and newborn child. By providing funds, these women wouldn’t be required to work. This will also save them from outside environment and pollution.”
