Pune Zilla Parishad and PMC Students Shine at Robotex India’s Regional Championship

Pune, 12th September 2023: In a remarkable showcase of talent and innovation, Robotex India, a leading non-profit organization championing STEAM education, recently hosted its regional championship at the prestigious College of Engineering Pune (COEP). The event drew an impressive gathering of over 1000 participating students, accompanied by an enthusiastic audience of more than 3500.

The event’s highlight was the presence of Mr. Ramesh Chavhan, the CEO of Zilla Parishad, who graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Mr. Chavhan inaugurated the championship and lauded the students’ real-world problem-solving projects. The event featured a staggering 150 projects created by 350 students, with a strong emphasis on themes like sustainability, environmental conservation, responses to natural disasters, and other pressing global concerns.

A significant milestone was achieved through the participation of students from Zilla Parishad and PMC schools. This marked the first-ever collaboration between these students and their peers from the private sector. The inclusivity displayed was not only celebrated but also reflected in the remarkable achievements of students from Zilla Parishad and PMC schools, who secured podium positions.

BMC Software’s CSR-supported school, B T Shahani Navin Hind English Medium School in Bhawani Peth, Pune, stood out with three podium positions. ZS India’s CSR-supported Zilla Parishad Prathamik Shala Lohegaon School secured two podium positions. Globant India’s CSR-supported Shrimant Shivaji Raje Bhosale School in Phaltan secured one podium position, and WNS Global Services (P) Ltd.’s CSR-supported Gurunanak School in Ganeshpeth secured another podium position.

Robotex India’s Robotics Championships have emerged as a transformative force, providing rural and government school students with the opportunity to actively engage in STEM and Robotics. The event brought together students from diverse backgrounds, fostering collaboration among various schools and colleges.

The competition featured several categories, including Line Follower, Maze Solving, and Sumo Wrestling Robots, which showcased the students’ exceptional technical skills and problem-solving abilities.

Ms. Payal Rajpal, Director of Robotex India, expressed, “Robotex India continues to lead the way in promoting STEM education, innovation, and inclusivity among India’s youth. Having educated 1 million students nationwide in future employable skills, our goal is to train over 2 million by 2024.
