Punjab Government to Recruit 50,000 Posts in 3 Months, Vacancy in These 10 Departments

Pune, January 1, 2021: The Punjab Cabinet on Wednesday accelerated the process of recruitment of 50,000 government posts in the current financial year and also approved the restructuring of 10 departments.

During the meeting of the State Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, it was decided that new and relevant posts would be created in place of unnecessary vacant posts.

According to an official statement, “This is a major step towards the modernization of government departments to meet contemporary operational challenges.”

The 10 departments that will be restructured include Labour, Technical Education and Industrial Training, Public Works Department (B&R), Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairy Development, Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Local Government, Printing and Writing, Sports and Youth Services Welfare as well as Department of Defense Services Welfare and Co-operation.

According to the statement, the government will recruit 50,000 people in 10 departments by 31st March. The cabinet has also approved certain amendments in the Punjab Public Services Rules to pay salaries under the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission for fresh recruitments to be made in the state government and its units.

The cabinet also granted permission to create separate cadres for personnel of the State Education Research and Training Council Directorate (SCERT) and District Education Training Institute (DIET).
