Rotary Club of poona Airport continues its focus on projects in schools. This one is  a rural school for children with special needs. Mr Subash Katyarmal started the first residential school, called Seva Dham,  for mentally challenged children, at Koregaon Bhima  near Pune.

Since 2014 Rotary Club of Poona Airport has been providing support to Sevadham schools. To this end RCPA regularly interacts with the school authorities to assess their needs. We have provided the children shoes, sweaters, Solar Water Heater and sports equipment.

This year RCPA has pioneered the use of eLearning to provide education to challenged children.  As part of  Rotary’s Global Grant project each school was provided eLearning kits, comprising of 3 computers, 8 android tablets, 2 TVs and the relevant software to provide an audio visual learning experience to the children. This is a first of its kind project in Maharashtra and has won appreciation from the education department. The response from the teachers and children has been fantastic and despite their handicap some children have independently started to use the computers.

In addition RCPA members regularly hold interactive sessions with the children through puppetry, singing, dancing and storytelling.  The children and our members love these sessions and are always looking forward to the next session.

In future they are looking for teachers who can teach the children vocational skills so that the children can contribute to the society when they grow up .
