Savitribai Phule Pune University Celebrates Birth Anniversary of Raje Umaji Naik

Pune, 7th September 2025: The birth anniversary of Raje Umaji Naik, revered as one of the earliest freedom fighters of India, was celebrated with enthusiasm at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) on Sunday.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Suresh Gosavi and Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Parag Kalkar paid floral tributes to Umaji Naik by offering a wreath to his portrait.

Several dignitaries were present on the occasion, including Dr. Vijay Khare, Head of the Department of Defence and Strategic Studies; Prof. Dr. Vilas Adhav, Director and Head of the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension; Senate members Krishna Bhandalkar and Shantanu Lamdhade; Prof. Aade, Head of Birsa Munda Studies; and Santosh Madane, Secretary of the Employees’ Association.

Teaching and non-teaching staff, along with students, also participated in the program, making the commemoration a meaningful and spirited event.
