Schools, colleges in urban Maharashtra closed till 31st March for curbing spread of Corona virus

Mumbai, March 14:- The Epidemic Diseases Act has been invoked in the state for curbing the spread of Corona virus and as a part of precautionary measure, all the schools, colleges and Aanganbadis in the jurisdiction of municipal corporations, municipalities and Nagar Panchayat areas will remain closed till 31st of March. In this period, the examinations will be on. Similarly, schools and colleges in rural area will also be functioning, this information was given by Health Minister Mr Rajesh Tope in the state assembly today. Meanwhile, the number of Corona positive patients in the state had reached to 31.

          Making the statement in the state assembly, health minister mister Tope said that that the Epidemic Diseases Act has been enforced as the Corona patients are increasing in the state. He said that as a precautionary measure, all the theatres, cinema halls, swimming pools, gymnasiums in the state are shut down and the instructions to this effect has been given to the District Magistrates, commissioners of municipal corporations and police administrations.

          Mr Tope said that all the schools, colleges and Aanganwadis in urban areas of the state will remain closed till 31st of March but the Board examinations will be conducted as per the schedule. He appealed to the school administration and also the parents and guardians of the students not to send their ward in school if they are ill. He said that till further orders, all the government programs, business programs, fairs, religious programs, sports programs have been cancelled and no permission will be given to any such program. He asked the people to cooperate with the state government in confronting the epidemics. Meanwhile, 26 patients of Corona virus are found in the state. The district wise number of patients is as follows:-

 Pune-10, Mumbai -5, Raigad-1, Kalyan -1, Ahmed Nagar- 1, Nagpur -4, Thane 1,Kalyan-2 and one patient was found in Yavatmal.
