T Sai Janvi, Sanjana, Sohini upset seeds to enter girls semifinals at AITA- MSLTA under 14 Nationals Tennis Tournament
Mumbai, 18th March 2021: T Sai Janvi and Sanjana Devineni of Karnataka, Sohini Mohanty of Odisha upset seeds to enter the girls’ semifinals at the AITA -MSLTA Boys and Girls under 14 nationals being hosted by the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) at their GA Ranade Tennis complex.
In the quarterfinals played today Karnataka’s T Sai Janvi upset tenth seeded Laxmi Dandu of Telangana 6-3, 6-4, her compatriot seventh-seeded Sanjana Devineni upset fourth-seeded Saumitra Verma of Uttarkhand 6-4, 6-1 while unseeded Odisha girl Sohini Mohanty accounted for Telangana’s sixth-seeded Kanumuri Ikaraju (6) 6-4, 6-3. In an all Maharashtra clash Asmi Adkar stopped Aishwarya Jadhav 6-1, 6-4 to complete the semifinal quartet.
In the Boys quarterfinals, top-seeded Pranav Rethin RS of Tamil Nadu outplayed Telangana’s sixth-seeded Venkat Batlanki 6-2, 6-0, while third-seeded Tejas Ahuja of Haryana stopped Manipur’s seventh seed Senjam Ashwajit ) 6-3, 6-4. Fifth-seeded Mahalingam Khadhavel of Tamil Nadu out rallied Telangana’s Sri Pranav Tamma 6-1, 6-2, in the best match of the day second-seeded Krish Tyagi of Karnataka scraped past Maharashtra’s Arnav Paparkar winning 2-6, 7-6(5), 6-0 to make the last four in the boys.
