Three Fatal Road Accidents in Pune: Woman, Teen, and Elderly Man Dead in Separate Mishaps

Pune, 6th July 2025: In a series of tragic road accidents across Pune, three people, including a 29-year-old woman, a teenage rider, and an unidentified senior citizen, lost their lives while several others were injured. All three incidents involved hit-and-run cases, with drivers fleeing the scene after causing fatal injuries.
In the first incident, a woman identified as Rukmini Raju Chavan (29), a resident of Vadgaon Shinde Road, Lohgaon, was killed when a speeding tempo collided with a two-wheeler on July 4 around 11 PM near Dhanori Zakat Naka. Rukmini, along with her husband and two children, was travelling on a bike when the accident occurred. She suffered a severe head injury and died during treatment at a private hospital. Her children sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment. A case has been registered at the Airport Police Station, and a search is on for the absconding tempo driver. Police Sub-Inspector Y.S. Chavan is leading the investigation.
In another accident the same night, a senior citizen, estimated to be around 65 years old, was killed after being hit by a speeding car in the Patil Estate area on the Mumbai-Pune Road. The man was walking near the Patil Estate Bridge around 10:30 PM when the vehicle struck him. He died on the spot, and his identity is yet to be confirmed. The driver fled the scene, and a case has been registered at Khadki Police Station. Sub-Inspector Gadekar is investigating.
In a third fatality, 17-year-old Mangesh Pandurang Chamnar from Vadgaon Sheri was hit by a speeding vehicle near Amanora Mall on July 1 at 7:30 AM while riding a two-wheeler. He died before receiving medical attention. The complaint was filed by Datta Surnar at Hadapsar Police Station. Assistant Police Inspector Jaunjal is handling the case.
