UPSC Mains Exam starts tomorrow; check for guidelines and tips

New Delhi, 14th September 2023: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Main exam 2023 will be conducted on September 15, 16, 17, 23, and 24 in two shifts i.e., 9 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm. The exam will be conducted over these five days with two papers each day.

The candidates who have achieved passing scores in the preliminary exams are allowed to appear for the Mains exam. The admit card for the same was released on August 29.

Guidelines:

1)It is advisable to reach the exam centre 30 minutes before the scheduled time. The entry will be closed 10 minutes before the given time and late arrivals will not be entertained.

2) It is compulsory to carry the designated Admit Card to the exam. Identity proof and passport-size photographs should be taken as well.

3) Candidates should carry their transparent water bottles with no text printed on them. They should carry the stationery required for the examination, including a black ballpoint pen for signing the attendance sheet.

4) Entry of electronic devices such as mobile phones, cameras, pen drives, or any Bluetooth-enabled device is prohibited. Candidates are allowed to wear only simple wristwatches. Smartwatches or digital watches are prohibited.

Tips:

Make sure you have the required material for the exam. Pack your bags a day before to avoid last-minute hassles.
Reach the examination centre before time and plan your commute keeping the traffic jams in mind.
Keep a calm mind and focus on revising important topics. Avoid learning new topics right before the exam.
Plan and divide your time according to your familiarity, understanding, required word limit, and confidence to answer the question. Understand your question thoroughly before answering. As you have only 170 minutes, put a few minutes aside to fill out the attendance sheet.
Write your copy in a neat. clear and jargon-free manner making it easier to understand and evaluate.

The results of UPSC Mains are expected to be released in December 2023. Soon after that, the passing candidates will be called in for the interview round.
