Virginia, 5th May, 2023: In an intense and tragic situation that unfolded today, an unresponsive business plane, that was flying over Washington, crashed in Virginia after the military scrambled a fighter jet after it. The fighter jet’s powerful sonic boom could be heard all throughout the Washington DC area.

The jet went down in a mountainous region close to Montebello, Virginia, some 200 km southwest of Washington, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

According to a U.S. official, the crash was not caused by the jet fighters. The crash site had no survivors when rescuers arrived on foot late on Sunday, according to Virginia State Police.

The reason the aircraft was unresponsive, the cause of the disaster, and the number of passengers on board were all unknown at the time. A source told Reuters that the aircraft appeared to be on auto pilot and did not respond to authorities.

The aircraft took off from a Tennessee airfield and was almost in New York when it made a U-turn and started travelling back in the opposite direction.

This situation is being thoroughly examined by both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
