New Delhi, 10th July 2023: Days before the first Test against the West Indies, Virat Kohli expressed his heartfelt sentiments towards Team India coach Rahul Dravid. The Indian cricket team has arrived in Dominica, fully engrossed in preparations for the upcoming two-match red-ball series, scheduled to commence on July 12, marking their return to action.

In their previous engagement, led by Rohit Sharma, the team faced defeat against Australia in the 2023 World Test Championship (WTC) final. Subsequently, the Indian players enjoyed a month-long break before reuniting in Barbados for the West Indies tour. The tour encompasses a three-match ODI series and a five-match T20I series.

The Indian team’s calendar is packed, with the Asia Cup and ICC ODI World Cup also slated to take place later this year. However, the players appear in high spirits as they gear up to embark on the Caribbean tour, signalling the beginning of the next WTC cycle from 2023-25.

In anticipation of the first Test, Kohli shared a photograph with Dravid, reminiscing about their time together on the field in 2011 at the same venue where the upcoming series opener will be hosted. Reflecting on their journey since then, Kohli, now the captain of the Indian team, expressed gratitude as Dravid assumes the role of head coach for the Men in Blue. Kohli, aged 34, conveyed his appreciation for life’s full circle in his caption accompanying the post with Dravid.

For those unfamiliar with the details, India visited the Caribbean islands in 2011 for a solitary T20I match, followed by five ODIs and three Test matches. Kohli and Dravid had played alongside each other in the third Test at Roseau, which concluded in a draw. The Indian team eventually clinched the series, having won the first Test, while the second Test also ended in a draw.
