Wakad: Pune Police Parade Gangster Vitthal Shelar, Mastermind of Sharad Mohol Murder Case
Wakad, 19th January 2024: In a significant development, Pune Police have taken decisive action in the murder case of the notorious goon Sharad Mohol. The alleged mastermind, Vitthal Shelar, was publicly paraded near his residence in Wakad, and authorities have also confiscated Shelar’s bulletproof Scorpio.
Mohol met his demise in broad daylight in Pune on January 5, when Sahil alias Munna Santosh Polekar and his associates shot him near his residence in the Sutardara area of Kothrud.
Following the incident, the Pune Police Crime Branch arrested Vitthal Shelar (36), a former president of the BJP youth wing with a history of multiple cases, along with Ramdas Marne.
Who is Vitthal Shelar?
Vitthal Shelar, originally from Botarwadi in Mulshi taluka, was previously involved in collecting extortion money for the Ganesh Marne gang in Pune city. After the demise of Pintu Marne, Shelar established his own network. With nine serious criminal cases registered against him, he faced charges under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in 2014.
Six months ago, two rival gangs led by Mohol and Shelar confronted each other at Radha Chowk. Shelar narrowly escaped an attack by the Mohol gang during that incident. The Pune police assert that Mohol’s murder was an act of revenge for the earlier confrontation.
