Waste disposal agency booked for duping PCMC of lakh of rupees
Wakad, February 8, 2021: A case of fraud has been registered against a waste disposal agency, its project head, supervisor, and others for cheating the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) for duping the latter of lakhs of rupees.
To increase the weight of the garbage collected, the waste disposal agency would collect garbage from different areas, apart from the one assigned, and charge lakhs of rupees for the same from the civic authorities.
The matter came into light after the PCMC Health Department registered a complaint of cheating against the waste disposal agency.
A complaint has been filed against the agency AG Enviro Infra Project Pvt, driver Rupesh Bhaguji Jagtap (44) of Walhekarwadi, driver Ganesh Tukaram Arjun (32) of Thergaon, driver Ashutosh Makasre (28) of Rahatani, garbage picker Arif Mehboob Makashi (22) of Thergaon, Rohit Bhausaheb Sarvade (21) of Chinchwad station, Santosh Bibhishan Kamble (30) of Pimpri, AG Enviro Company Supervisor Prateek Taware (26) of Marunji, Project Head Tanaji Pawar of Moshi.
PCMC Health Inspector Shashikant Shivaji More (37) has lodged the complaint at Wakad police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police.
According to the police, the waste collection contract has been given to AG Enviro Infra Project Pvt Ltd. Three waste pickers from the company collected waste from the Wakad area. The more waste is collected, the more money the company receives. Hence, the accused collected and filled garbage from different areas to increase the total weightage of the bags to benefit the company. This way, the agency has duped PCMC of lakhs of rupees till now.
The accused persons have been booked for offences under Sections 406, 420, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Wakad police are investigating the case further.
