Pune, May 2, 2020: It was an unusual wedding where police personnel were ‘invited’ as guests as well as they were the hosts of the ceremony held in Amanora Township today. Aditya Singh Bisht who works with an IT company and Dr Neha Kushwa, both residing in Amanora, were engaged on February 14, and their wedding date was fixed as May 2.

Their marriage ceremony was to be held in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, but due to lockdown, they could not leave the city. Bisht’s father is Colonel in the Army, while Kushwa’s father is also a Colonel and Doctor. As both are posted in different states battling Coronavirus, they could not make it to the wedding either. So, the Army officers sought help from the police.

Officials from Hadapsar police station of Pune city police became parents of the two and performed their marriage rituals. DCP (Zone 5) Suhas Bawche, Senior police inspector Ramesh Sathe, API Prasad Lonare, and their team made all arrangements and helped Kushwa and Bisht marry today.
Speaking to Punekarnews.in, Neha said, “It’s a dream come true for us. The police department made all the arrangements, as my lehenga and jewellery are at Dehradun. I got the saree from the Pandit Ji. Ashwini ma’am, wife of a police officer, performed my Kanyadan. Due to lockdown, the marriage had become impossible but police officials came as angels and helped us get married. They organised everything.”
