WhatsApp to Let Android Users Set DPs Directly from Facebook, Instagram in New Update
New Delhi, 28th July 2025: WhatsApp is working on a new feature aimed at simplifying how Android users update their display pictures (DPs). The Meta-owned messaging platform is reportedly testing a tool that would allow users to choose profile photos directly from their Facebook or Instagram accounts, eliminating the need to manually save and upload images.
As per a report from WABetaInfo, the feature is part of WhatsApp beta version 2.25.21.23 for Android. The updated interface in the profile settings now offers users additional options when setting a profile photo — including Facebook and Instagram — alongside the existing choices such as Camera, Gallery, Avatar, and Meta AI.
Seamless Profile Sync Across Meta Platforms
Currently, users looking to use an image from Facebook or Instagram as their WhatsApp DP must download it separately and re-upload it within the app. With this new feature, WhatsApp intends to streamline that process, enabling users to instantly pick images from their linked social media accounts.
This change is expected to benefit users who maintain a uniform digital identity across Meta’s ecosystem, making it easier to reflect the same profile image across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp without redundancy.
While the feature is still undergoing beta testing and hasn’t been officially released in the public version, its inclusion in the latest beta build suggests that it may roll out to all Android users soon.
Once officially launched, the feature is likely to enhance user convenience by reducing the time and steps required to update one’s WhatsApp profile photo.
Meta has not announced a specific rollout timeline, but further updates are expected soon as the integration across its platforms deepens.
