According to officials, a group of tourists had gone to Suvela Machi at around 9 am when they were attacked by the swarm of bees. Four tourists became unconscious after the incident while around 25 of them were injured. The local agencies were immediately informed about the incident and doctors were rushed to the fort to treat the tourists.

The fort, having one of the important historical places of Maharashtra, witnesses heavy crowds of tourists and especially trekkers. It is located around 55 km from Pune in the Valha taluka and the youngsters from Pune and Mumbai are among the most visitors. It may be noted that similar incidents of bee attacks were reported in the past as well. Earlier, a group of students were attacked by bees on the fort. The forest officials and experts claim that the strong smell such as perfumes attracts the bees and that could be a possible reason for such attacks.
