10th Pass Agniveers Will Get 12th Standard Certificate, NIOS To Start A Special Course

New Delhi, 15th June 2022: According the officials from the Ministry of Education, the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) in consultation with Defense authorities is launching a special program to help Agniveers who have passed 10th standard to pursue their education and obtain 12th standard certificate by developing curriculum relevant to their service sector.

 

A senior education ministry official said the ministry’s Department of School Education and Literacy, through its autonomous institute NIOS, in consultation with defense officials, is launching a special program for Agniveers who have passed class 10th. Through this course they will be able to further their education.
He said that by developing courses relevant to the service sector of Agniveers, they would be able to obtain the certificate of class 12th.

He said that this certificate would be recognized across the country for both employment and higher education and would benefit the Agniveers to acquire sufficient educational qualifications and skills to play a productive role in the society later in life.

Earlier, the education ministry had said that keeping in mind the future career prospects of Agniveers, it would launch a skill-based three-year bachelor’s degree program for defense personnel in recognition of the skill training received during their tenure in defense establishments.

Officials said the degree programs offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) would be recognized both in India and abroad for employment and education.

He said that the Army, Navy and Air Force will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IGNOU for the implementation of this scheme.
