3rd International Conference on Herbal and Synthetic drug Studies- HSDS- 2016 begins at Azam Campus

The third International Conference on “Herbal  and Synthetic Drug studies (HSDS-2016)” sponsored by University Grants Commission (UGC)  was inaugurated at the Assembly hall of Azam Campus at09:45 am on Thursday.

Dr. Vijayamohanan  Pillai , Director, National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, presided over as the  chief  guest of  the function. Amongst the foreign delegates who  participated in the conference comprised of

George Weiner –  Director, Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa  ,Roy Jensen –  Director, The University of Kansas Cancer Center, Shrikant Anant –  Associate Dean, Research at the University of Kansas Medical Center, USA, Timothy Stemmler –  Wayne State University, US ,Iztok Turel – University of Ljublijana, Slovenia  and others. An  Abstract book was also  released by the Chief Guest Dr. Vijayamohanan Pillai. Mr Pillai in his address pointed out the importance of herbal products and their increasing usage in daily life. He said there are a lot of herbs which have several medicinal use we know traditionally but scientifically no research takes place on them till now. He also talked about the drug dopamine which is a neuro transmitter.

MCE Society President P.A. Inamdar  emphasized that the foreign delegates  should ensure for greater collaboration between the college and their universities and further  said that  seminars and  conferences on similar    themes will prove  helpful in the Indian education Scenerio. Inamdar further added that world class  research facilities were available    at Azam Campus and pathbreaking innovations could be achieved through international academic collaborations Dr. Khursheed Ahmed (convener of conference) said that the conference was a stepping stone towards futuristic reasearch in the domain and appealed to the scientific community to come up with original and cutting edge research by harnessing information technology. Dr Khursheed  also proposed the vote of thanks.
