85% Work Of Pune Metro’s Shivajinagar Underground Station Completed

Shivajinagar, 11th October 2022: Around 85% percent work of Pune Metro’s Shivaji Nagar underground station has been completed. The look of the station will depict the fort of the prestigious heritage of Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s era.
As the station is planned with Multi-Modal Integration, the stations entry/exit are integrated with Shivaji Nagar Railway station, PMPML, MSRTC bus depots, and Hinjewadi metro line.
The Shivaji Nagar underground station is located under the road connecting Sakhar Sankul to Akashwani Bhavan (AIR). The road dug up for underground station, will be restored.
According to Maha Metro’s proposal, this entire area along with 200X20 meters area gives the feel of the period from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s era.
The Pedestrian subway network will connect the old Mumbai-Pune Highway at Akashwani (AIR) Pune and Shivaji Nagar railway station. The two subways are proposed to increase the reach of the metro station.
The Shivaji Nagar metro station will have five lifts of which three lifts have been installed and 12 escalators of which six have been installed. Additionally, the Tunnel Ventilation (TV) and Environmental Control System (ECS) are in the final stage of commissioning.
Maha Metro is constructing two metro corridors with a total length of about 30 Km in Pune. Corridor-1 (North-South Corridor) starts from PCMC to Swargate and corridor-2 (East-West Corridor) starts from Vanaz to Ramwadi with 24 elevated and five Underground stations. The underground stretch is the part of Corridor-1 and starts from Range Hill Depot towards Swargate.
There are total of five underground stations which are planned, Shivaji Nagar, Civil Court, Budhwar Peth, Mandai, and Swargate.
