EPF Staff Union Maharashtra Elections 2026: Vijay Thakare Elected Secretary General
Pune, 14th April 2026: The biennial elections (2026–2027) of the EPF Staff Union, Maharashtra State, were conducted successfully.
At the Regional Office, Pune (Akurdi) unit, several office bearers were elected unopposed. Alok Kumar was elected Vice President, Dinesh Shelar as Secretary, Ashok Tagad as Organising Secretary, and Mrityunjay Kumar Mishra as Treasurer. The committee members elected include Lata Vijay Kakne, Madan Gopal, Suresh Peshwani, Sumit Akhori, and Prathamesh Varat. The election process was conducted under the leadership of Chief Election Officer Kumar Amit and Assistant Election Officer Tapas Kumar Bal.
For the 2026–2027 term, Vijay Thakare was elected Secretary General of the EPF Staff Union, Maharashtra State, defeating his nearest rival by a margin of 108 votes. He contested the election under the banner of the Sthaniya Lok Adhikar Samiti. The process was conducted under the guidance of Rakesh Acharya, General Secretary of the committee. Out of 14 units across Maharashtra, candidates backed by the Sthaniya Lok Adhikar Samiti secured victory in 13 units.
Following the elections, Member of Parliament Anil Desai, who is also the Patron of the EPF Staff Union, Maharashtra State, extended his best wishes to employees and congratulated the newly elected representatives.
On the occasion, Alok Kumar along with federation office bearers Dinesh Shelar and Mrityunjay Kumar Mishra said they would remain available round the clock in the interest of employees and would continue efforts to safeguard their rights.
In his address, newly elected Secretary General Vijay Thakare said he would discharge his responsibilities with sincerity and work towards raising and resolving pending demands of employees by placing them before the management.
