New Delhi, 24th August 2023: In a joint initiative, Air India Express and AirAsia India have unveiled their Unaccompanied Minor (UMNR) service, catering to young travelers aged five (5) to twelve (12) years. This service offers a dedicated and secure travel option on all direct routes, extending the previously available service on international flights to now include domestic sectors. With this expansion, parents and guardians can be assured of their children’s safety and comfort during their journey, allowing them a hassle-free and delightful travel experience. The Unaccompanied Minor service can be conveniently booked through the airline’s official website, airindiaexpress.com, or at airport sales counters, starting from ₹5,000.

Designed to provide comprehensive assistance, young flyers will receive personal attention from the airline staff right from their arrival at the terminal prior to security checks, guiding them through all required airport formalities. For verification purposes, both the child and the accompanying parent or guardian must possess valid photo identification documents at departure and arrival. Furthermore, the parent or guardian must accompany the child to the airport, ensuring arrival at least 2 hours before the scheduled departure for domestic flights. Upon arrival, airline staff will continue to assist the child until they are safely reunited with their parent or guardian.

Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer, expressed, “Our commitment to enhancing the travel experience for our passengers remains unwavering. By extending the Unaccompanied Minor service to cover all domestic sectors, we intend to offer young solo travelers a comfortable and warm flying experience. The well-being of our young flyers is our top priority, and our dedicated staff will ensure a seamless and secure journey from check-in to arrival.”

The introduction of unaccompanied minor services stands as a recent addition to the comprehensive array of integrated products and services brought forth by Air India Express and AIX Connect as they move towards their merger. Renowned for their in-flight dining brand, ‘Gourmair’, the airlines are applauded for presenting a delectable range of oven-hot meals that includes special options for kids, healthy choices, vegan and Jain preferences, MasterChef Specials, Regional Favourites, All-Day Breakfast, Seasonal Fruits, Lite Bites, and Tempting Desserts.
