Army Helicopter Makes Precautionary Landing, Injuring Three Personnel in Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu, 4th May 2023: The Northern Command of the Indian Army has issued a press statement regarding an incident that occurred in the Kishtwar region of Jammu and Kashmir.

As per the statement, an Army Aviation ALH Dhruv helicopter had to make a precautionary landing on the banks of Marua river during an operational mission on 4th May 2023. The incident took place at around 11.15 am.

The pilots had reported a technical fault to the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) and proceeded for a precautionary landing. However, due to the undulating ground, undergrowth, and unprepared landing area, the helicopter made a hard landing.

The Army immediately launched rescue operations, and rescue teams reached the site. There were two pilots and a technician on board the helicopter, and all three personnel were injured during the hard landing. They have been evacuated to Command Hospital in Udhampur for treatment.

A Court of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the incident. Further details regarding the incident are being ascertained by the Northern Command of the Indian Army.
