Pune, 2nd May 2022: Many people like to invest in gold and it is bought a lot on occasions like Diwali, Dhanteras and Akshaya Tritiya. Akshaya Tritiya is on 3rd April and many people must be planning to buy gold. Akshaya Tritiya is considered an auspicious time to buy gold. Buying gold on this occasion is associated with good luck and prosperity.

However, if you are looking to buy gold coins on this occasion, then you should take this step keeping in mind a few things as ignorant people may fail to buy gold and may incur losses.

One should keep these five things in mind while purchasing gold:

Purity of Gold: Purity of gold is something that plays an important role in deciding how good a coin is. Accuracy is measured by carats. If your gold coin is of 24 carat, it means that 24 of the 24 parts of the coin are of gold. 22 out of 24 parts in 22 carat gold coins are of gold, while the remaining two parts are of some other metal.

Hallmark: Hallmarking ensures the purity of the gold coin as per the Indian Standard Specifications. Gold articles are tested and certified at the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Hallmarking Center to determine their purity and fineness. Before buying gold coins, definitely check the hallmarking marks.

Weight: Before buying a gold coin, consider its weight. You can choose from a range of options available, with the most common being 1 gram, 5 gram and 10 gram coins. Gold coins come in the range of 0.5 grams to 50 grams.

Making Charges: You should also note that buying gold coins is relatively easy as compared to jewelry as in coin form you can buy a minimum 0.5 grams of gold with less making charges. This is because making gold coins requires less craftsmanship.

Reselling: As per RBI order, if a person buys gold coins from any bank, he will not be able to sell the same to the bank. Those who want to sell their gold coins have to look for online platforms or recognized jewelers to do so.
