CCTV Cameras in Pune Monitored by Police; Maintenance Handled by Allied Digital Services: Fadnavis

Pune, 22nd March 2025: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in a written response to the Legislative Assembly, clarified that CCTV cameras installed across Pune are monitored by the Pune Police Control Room, local police stations, and chowkis. However, the police do not have a separate network for resolving technical issues related to these cameras.
Fadnavis stated that the repair and maintenance of CCTV cameras installed under Phase 1 of Pune’s CCTV project are managed by M/s Allied Digital Services Limited, which ensures immediate fixes whenever issues are reported. Currently, Pune has 6,492 CCTV cameras, including 5,151 installed across the city and 1,341 under the Pune City Police. These cameras are monitored by the respective police departments.
This issue was raised in the Assembly by MLA Siddharth Shirole. In response, Fadnavis noted that in 2015, the Pune City Police Commissionerate had installed 1,341 CCTV cameras under Phase 1 of the project. Additionally, under Phase 2, approval has been granted for 2,886 more cameras, with installation still underway. The repair and upkeep of these cameras are covered by a six-year contract with M/s Allied Digital Services Limited.
Fadnavis further explained that the Pune Police do not have a separate network for resolving technical issues with these cameras. The CCTV systems deployed under Phases 1 and 2 operate through Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), which serves as the Internet Service Provider (ISP) for the network.
Additionally, Pune Metro and Pune Smart City have also installed cameras as part of the initiative, Fadnavis added in his response.
