Corona Vaccination: Police Will Escort Every Truck, Vaccine Will Be Sent Across The Country

Pune, January 11, 2021: Armed police personnel will escort each vehicle carrying the corona virus vaccine. It is expected that Pune-based Serum Institute of India (SII) will send vaccine to Karnal in Haryana, Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh,  Silvassa and Daman and Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot in Gujarat.

Vaccination will commence from January 16 across the country. While preparations for the vaccination are in full swing in the states, complete preparation for sending vaccines is also visible across the country. A fleet of vehicles is ready to transport the vaccine, but surprisingly, the vaccine manufacturer is still awaiting a purchase order from the government.

It is said that the transporter from Pune has been selected to supply the vaccine CoviShield of the Serum Institute to the entire country. Pune-based transporter Cool-X Integrated Cold Chain Limited has been selected to transport the vaccine across India. For the first phase of vaccination starting from January 16, about 2 crores 20 lakh CoviShield vaccines of Serum Institute is to be delivered across the country.

Kunal Aggarwal, Director of Transporter Cool-X Cold Chain Limited, told Aaj Tak that today i.e. on January 11, six fully air conditioned container trucks are going to the Serum Institute, from where the containers of CoviShield are to be loaded.

Aggarwal said that it is possible that after loading the container of CoviShield, these containers may be dispatched by evening. He stated that 280 to 300 boxes of CovShield will be kept in each container.  

Police will escort each vehicle: The director of Cool-X affirmed that armed police personnel will escort every vehicle carrying the corona virus vaccine. It is expected that the serum institute will send vaccine to Karnal in Haryana, Jhansi, Daman, and Silvassa  and Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, and Rajkot in Gujarat. Two trucks with the vaccine will be sent to Pune Airport. It is also said that the vaccine will be supplied by air to 15 places in the country. In other places, the vaccine has to be delivered by road.
