Heavy To Moderate Rains In Pune Till October 5, Take Necessary Precautions: IMD

Pune, 30th September 2022: The rains had taken a break for the past several days. But in the last two days, the weather started to change. Today (September 30) heavy rain followed in the afternoon. According to the weather department, rains are expected till October 5.

It is predicted by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) that lightly moderate rain is expected with thunderstorms. It is also foreseen that 1 or 2 intense spells of rain can be reported around the city.

Anupam Kashyapi, Head Of the Weather Forecasting Department, IMD Pune informed that currently returning monsoon has started in Pune In the last two days and there are chances of rain till October 5, Hence, citizens of Pune are advised to take necessary precautions and be aware of the impact due to the rain.

Expected Impact Due Do Rain:

-Localized Flooding of roads, water logging in low-lying areas and closure of underpasses mainly in urban areas of the above region.

-Occasional reduction in visibility due to heavy rainfall.

-Disruption of traffic in major cities due to water logging in roads leading to increased travel time.

-Minor damage to kachha roads.

-Possibilities of damage to the vulnerable structure.

-Localized Landslides/Mudslides

-Damage to horticulture and standing crops in some areas due to inundation.

-It may lead to riverine flooding in some river catchments.

Citizens are requested to follow precautionary measures:

-Check for traffic congestion on your route before leaving for your destination.

-Follow any traffic advisories that are issued in this regard.
