How to Vote in Maharashtra Assembly Elections Without a Voter ID

Mumbai, 18th November 2024: The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections are set for 20th November. While a voter ID is vital for identification and participation, other approved documents may also be used for voting. A voter ID not only facilitates voting but also serves as official proof of identity and address.
Voting is a fundamental democratic right. Citizens who are 18 years of age or older as of January 1st of the election year are eligible to register, provided they are not disqualified. Registration is limited to one’s regular residence. Overseas citizens are registered at the address listed on their passports, while service voters use their home addresses.
Voting Without a Voter ID
The Election Commission of India (ECI) mandates voter identification at polling stations. Although a voter ID is preferred, voters listed on the electoral roll may cast their votes using approved alternative documents.
