Pune, 25th December 2023: Pune’s rail network is bracing for significant disruptions between December 26th, 2023, and January 6th, 2024, owing to ongoing infrastructure upgrades linked to the doubling of the SLI-MRJ section. A total of 34 trains are set to face alterations in their schedules, affecting thousands of commuters during this period.

The impact of this infrastructure overhaul is substantial, with 23 trains slated for cancellation within the specified timeframe. Additionally, 8 trains are set to experience route alterations or abbreviated journeys, being either short-originated or short-terminated between December 25th and January 6th. Among the affected services, three Pune-bound trains will be diverted from their usual routes starting on December 26th until December 30th, further complicating travel plans for passengers relying on these connections.

These adjustments are a part of the broader initiative aimed at enhancing the rail network’s efficiency and capacity. However, the inconvenience caused to passengers cannot be understated, prompting officials to urge travelers to plan their journeys in advance and explore alternative transportation options to mitigate the impact of these disruptions.

The railway authorities have advised passengers to stay updated with the latest information regarding their train schedules and to make necessary adjustments in their travel plans accordingly. The period between December 26th and January 6th is expected to witness a significant reshuffling of train services as the infrastructural enhancements progress, aiming to ultimately deliver a more robust and efficient rail network in the Pune region.
