Maharashtra: 18,466 New Covid-19 Positive Cases, 75  Omicron Cases Reported Today

Mumbai, 4th January 2022: 18,466 new Covid-19 positive cases reported in Maharashtra today while 4,558 patients discharged today. 65,18,916 COVID-19 patients discharged after full recovery until today. The Recovery rate in the state is 96.86%. 20 COVID-19 deaths reported in the state today. Case fatality rate is the state is 2.1%.

Out of 6,95,09,260 laboratory samples 67,30,494 have been tested positive (9.68%) for COVID-19 until today.

Currently 3,98,391 people are in home quarantine and 1110 people are in institutional quarantine.

Omicron Update:

Today, 75 patients with Omicron infection have been reported in the state. All patients have

been reported by National Institute of Virology Details of the cases are as below-

Mumbai – 40

Thane MC-9

Pune MC- 8

Panvel-5

Kolhapur and Nagpur-3 each

PCMC -2

Bhivandi Nizampur, Ulhasnagar, Satara, Amravati and Navi Mumbai -1 each

Till date, a total of 653 patients infected with Omicron variant have been reported in the  state.

Out of these, 259 cases have been discharged following a negative RT PCR test.

The details of international passengers arriving at Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur airports from 1st December till today morning. Additionally, field surveillance of all international passengers who have arrived since 1st November is underway. Through airport and field surveillance, 2397 samples have been sent for genomic sequencing. Results of 91 are awaited so far.
