The low percentage of polling in urban areas is a matter of concern. Even though there are continuous holidays during and after the polling, the educated voters should participate in this national festival of democracy by discharging their duty by voting, appealed Chief Election Officer (CEO) of the state Ashwani Kumar.

Urging the voters to exercise their franchise Ashwani Kumar said that the election system is fully prepared to hold elections in free and fearless atmosphere. Generally, it is observed that the percentage of voting is low in the urban areas as compared to the rural areas. This situation must change this time.

Mumbai is the economic and financial capital of India and this is the credit of the people of the metropolis and its surrounding. Therefore, it is the responsibility of every educated citizen to help increase the percentage of voting. With holiday on the polling day and in continuation the weekend holidays should not be used to go for outing. Women and Youth must vote in large number. We have the power to elect our representative in democracy and we must exercise it.

We all must participate in this national festival to strengthen the democracy without falling prey to any favour or fear, appealed CEO Kumar.
