Mumbai, 27 February 25: The Maharashtra government has approved a new recruitment process for teaching posts in non-agricultural universities to enhance transparency and fairness, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil announced. The revised procedure applies to the selection of Assistant Professors, Associate Professors, and Professors across state universities.

Scoring System for Selection

Under the new system, candidates will be evaluated based on academic credentials, research, teaching performance, and interview results. The weightage for academic quality, research, and teaching is set at 80%, while the interview carries 20% weightage. To qualify for final selection, candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks out of 100.

Interview Process and Recording

The selection process will include an assessment of teaching and research aptitude, with candidates required to present seminars or lectures in a classroom setting. The ability to use modern technology in teaching and research will also be evaluated during the interview.

Selection committee meetings will be audio-visually recorded, and the recordings will be sealed with signatures of all committee members after the process is completed. The results will be declared on the same or the following day after the interviews.

Implementation and Future Selection Process

The ongoing teacher recruitment process in universities has been approved to proceed under the new guidelines. This revised procedure will also be adopted for future university faculty selections, ensuring a faster and more transparent selection process across Maharashtra’s universities.
