Maharashtra Launches Statewide Search Operation to Bring Out-of-School Children Back to Education

Pune, 1st July 2025: In a major initiative to ensure educational inclusion, the Maharashtra government today launched a 15-day search operation aimed at identifying and bringing back children aged 3 to 18 who are not currently attending school. The campaign, running until 15th July, will focus on students in both rural and urban areas, including those living in settlements, slums, labour camps, and even at bus stands and hotels.
The operation targets children who have either dropped out or never enrolled in school due to various reasons, as well as those who are constantly on the move or engaged in work. According to state officials, the search will not be limited to school premises but will extend to locations where out-of-school children are likely to be found.
The primary goal of this operation is to reintegrate these children into the mainstream education system, thereby strengthening the foundation of education across the state. Authorities emphasize that the effort is intended to be practical and impactful, ensuring that the initiative does not remain a mere paperwork exercise but leads to real change in the lives of Maharashtra’s children.
