Nashik, 27th February 2026: The Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA) on Thursday convened a stakeholder consultation with artists and cultural groups under the chairmanship of NTKMA Commissioner Shekhar Singh to shape the cultural programming framework for Simhastha 2027.

The consultation focused on integrating structured “soft cultural programming” alongside the hard infrastructure works being planned for the Kumbh. NTKMA officials reiterated that while large-scale infrastructure, mobility and safety systems are being executed in a phased manner, equal emphasis will be placed on curated cultural activation to enhance the spiritual ambience of the mela.

During the interaction, artists suggested a diverse mix of programme formats, including tribal showcases, traditional food festivals, devotional and folk dance presentations, heritage-based storytelling acts, and thematic performances linked to Kumbh mythology.

Suggestions were also received regarding stage design, decentralised performance spaces, acoustic management, artist facilities, and coordination with pilgrim movement plans to avoid congestion at sensitive nodes. NTKMA informed participants that site visits to potential performance locations in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar will be undertaken in the coming days to assess feasibility and infrastructure requirements.

Addressing the participants, NTKMA Commissioner Shekhar Singh said, “Simhastha 2027 must reflect the cultural richness of Maharashtra and the spiritual heritage of Nashik–Trimbakeshwar. The ideas and suggestions shared by artists today will help us design a structured, inclusive and disciplined cultural calendar that complements the core infrastructure preparations.”

The Authority stated that the inputs received would be incorporated into the Cultural Programming Plan, including pre-Kumbh engagements, the October 31, 2026 flag-hoisting ceremony, and phased activations during the major mela period. Further consultations will be held to finalise empanelment, scheduling and operational guidelines.
