Need To Forge New Experts In The Field Of Micropalaeontology And stratigraphy

Pune, 4th May 2022: “Even today, we have to work on old oil mines as we do not have enough experts to find new ones.  This is because new experts working in the field of microbiology have not been established. It is a need of time that the new expertise comes to the light and start searching for the new mines,” said P.R.Mishra, GGM and Chief Operational Geology, ONGC Mumbai.
The 28th ‘Indian Colloquium Micropalaeontologylogy and stratigraphy’ (ICMS-2022)’ Conference was inaugurated at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). This Conference has just completed 50 years. The conference is hosted by many reputed institutes and this year Savitribai Phule Pune University has received this honor.
On the occasion of this inaugurated Dr. Nitin Karmalkar, Vice-Chancellor of SPPU, President of the conference and Petroleum Geologist and Advisor Dr. Anand Kale, Former Deputy Director of CSIR National Institute of Oceanography, Dr. Rajiv Nigam, Former Pro Vice-Chancellor of Lucknow University and President of Paleontological Society of India Prof. M.P. Singh, Dean of Savitribai Phule Pune University Dr. Manohar Chaskar, Head of the Department of Environment Science Dr. Suresh Gosavi, convener of the conference Dr. Rajani Panchang were present on this occasion.
“The ICMS-2022 conference is attended by many scholars and is a great platform for newcomers to do research in this field. It was at this conference that I presented my first paper,” said Dr. Rajiv Nigam.
At this time prof. M.P Singh briefed about the work of Paleontological Society of India.
Dr. Suresh Gosavi expressed, “It is a matter of pride that this conference has been held in Pune after 40 years and the university has got the honor of organizing it.” Rajni Panchang expressed confidence that such a conference would increase the number of experts working in the field of Micropalaentology after 1999.
Dr. Nitin Karmalkar, Vice Chancellor Savitribai Phule Pune University informed that “In Savitribai Phule Pune University, we have started imparting interdisciplinary education and have also started school system. The purpose of this is to develop an interdisciplinary approach among the students. The university is also working on startups, which will lead to incubation and innovation.”
