No Juna Bazar from July 24 as Pune police ban vendors from selling on roads

Pune, July 23, 2019 : From Wednesday (July 24, 2019), the people of Pune city will miss shopping at centuries old Juna Bazar, the market famous for cheap second-hand goods.

The Pune city police have made the road stretch from Shahir Amar Shaikh chowk (popularly called Juna Bazar chowk) to Kumbharves chowk as no-parking zone and banned vendors from selling goods on the road.

As per order issued by Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Ravindra Shisve, the changes are temporary as they will study traffic movement for a month.

The order was issued on a report submitted by DCP (traffic) Pankaj Deshmukh, which cited traffic jam in the area especially on Wednesday and Sunday, when the market is organised on the main road. Thousands of vendors sell their goods and the market is very popular among people.

Police official said that the road stretch connects major government offices and leads to traffic jam which causes a lot of inconvenience to people.
