‘Not a Single Rupee Transacted, Don’t Defame Us’: Ajit Pawar on Mundhwa Land Controversy in Pune
Pune, 9th November 2025: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has distanced himself and his family from the controversial Mundhwa Mahar Watan land transaction linked to his son Parth Pawar’s company Amadea Enterprises LLP, asserting that “not a single rupee” was exchanged in the deal and that the truth will be revealed once the inquiry committee submits its report.
Amadea Enterprises LLP bought 40 acres of land, currently leased by the Maharashtra government to the Central government’s Botanical Survey of India. The land, though valued at Rs 1,800 crore, was bought by the company for Rs 300 crore by paying stamp duty of Rs 500 only. They had obtained an exemption from duty under the pretext that they would set up an IT Park there. A woman, Sheetal Tejwani, had a power attorney from 272 watandars (descendants of people whom the land was given in the pre-Independence period) in 2006, and she sold the land illegally to Amadea Enterprises LLP, in which Parth Pawar has 99% shares.
Speaking to reporters after holding party meetings at the NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) office in Shivajinagar on Saturday, Pawar said, “Not a single rupee has been transacted in the land deal. No money has been paid to the seller, and no possession of the land has been taken. However, the purchase deed should not have been executed. It is not known how it happened, but the truth will come out after the committee’s report.”

Pawar confirmed that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has constituted an inquiry committee under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Vikas Kharge to investigate the matter. “After a month of investigation, everything will be revealed,” he said.
When asked if Parth Pawar’s company would have to pay stamp duty on the deal, the Deputy Chief Minister reiterated, “This transaction did not happen. The purchase deed should not have been done. Whoever is involved will be thoroughly investigated. I was not aware of this transaction, and I would not have allowed it to happen.”
Referring to the earlier controversy over the Bopodi land case, Pawar said, “Our family has nothing to do with that case. Don’t defame us unnecessarily. During every election, several allegations are levelled against me, but none have been proven. The committee has also been asked to suggest measures to prevent such transactions in the future. Whether anyone called or exerted pressure during the deed registration process will also be examined.”
Emphasizing due diligence, Pawar added, “Whenever we carry out a transaction, we ask lawyers to verify all related documents before proceeding. A legal notice is issued to verify ownership and any potential disputes. However, this was not done in this case. The sub-registrar should not have registered such a document in the first place.”
The Deputy Chief Minister also said he would personally advise his son Parth on the issue. “I have told the administration not to succumb to any pressure, even if someone close to me is involved in wrongdoing. I will advise Parth to learn from such cases and seek guidance from experienced professionals in the future,” Pawar said.
