Pune, October 18, 2020: The country’s leading airlines company IndiGo has imposed a new type of charge on passengers. The company said that from now on if any passenger goes to the Indigo counter at the airport to check-in, they will have to pay a charge of Rs 100. This move is being interpreted as a new way of generating revenue.

Other companies can also implement this

It is believed that in the coming days, all airlines companies may implement this policy. The Aviation Ministry had made it mandatory in May for passengers to enter the airport only after doing a web check-in. Passengers without a web check-in will not get admission at the airport. This was done so that social distancing could be maintained.

The Boarding pass is available through web check-in

If you do a web check-in, you are given a boarding pass. Under the new system, you do not even have to take a print out of the boarding pass. You can travel on the boarding pass which comes on email or mobile phone at the time of web check-in. Indigo has said that this new charge has come into effect from Saturday.

Use the mobile app or website

Indigo has said that they are encouraging the passengers according to the instructions from the government to use the mobile app or website.

The company said that the charge of Rs 100 will apply to the booking wherever it is done. Domestic flights have been started in the country since 25 May. While the international flight are still closed.

Middle seat passengers get a gown

Under the new regulations, if you get a middle seat on the flight, then you are also given a gown. It is necessary to wear it. Currently, all passengers are provided with a safety kit which consists of a sanitizer, mask and a face shield.

Some airlines have already started taking money for seats as well. You are given the option to choose a seat while booking your ticket. If you choose a middle seat, then you have to pay at least Rs 49 and if you want a side or a window seat, then you have to pay at least Rs 149.

This money seems to be in addition to the ticket. In this way, airlines are making money by implementing various kinds of rules.
