PIC elects office bearers for 2017-22, Dr. Mashelkar to be the President
Pune, February 9: The Governing Council of the Pune International Center (PIC) has elected the office bearers for the period of next 5 years. Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar has been elected as the President and Dr. Vijay Kelkar as the Vice President. Other elected office bearers include Ravi Pandit (Hon. Treasurer), Prabhakar Karandikar (Hon. General Secretary) and Prashant Girbane (Hon. Director).
Started in September 2011, the Pune International Center has emerged as an important ‘Think Tank’ of the country. In its journey of last 5 years, more than 100 quality sessions of lectures, roundtables, seminars, conferences and film festivals were organized. The PIC platform has been graced by stalwarts like Late Dr.
APJ Kalam, Hamid Ansari, Prakash Javadekar, Yashwant Sinha, P Chidambaram, Dr. Nandan Nilekani, Bhart Ratna Prof. CNR Rao and many others.
PIC has more than 300 eminent personalities from different walks of life as members and 39 Institutes (academic and professional organisations) of national and global repute are Institutional members of PIC. All the three living Bharat Ratnas are Honorary Members.
PIC participates in discussions and debates on some of the key national and global issues and creates Policy Papers/Briefs for influencing the policy.

Two initiatives have gained significance on a national level:
The Pune Dialog on National Security (PDNS): a conference that takes place in association with the Policy Perspective Foundation (PPF), Delhi, the Tribune Trust, Chandigarh and the Centre for Advanced Strategic Studies (CASS), Pune. 80+ experts from the defense and security sector participate in this closed conference and the report of recommendations is shared with the Hon’ble Defense Minister.
The National Conference on Social Innovation (NCSI): an annual conference that takes place in association with the National Innovation Foundation (NIF), Ahmedabad and the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). Over a 100 social innovators from diverse domains participate in this conference and about 40-50 CSR representatives of leading corporate companies attend the conference as well. The NCSI is focused facilitating the collaboration between CSRs of companies and social innovators.
PIC continues to conduct diverse programs which remain free and open for the general public.
