Pune: 72 players for fifth edition of PYC – Realty Seven Chess League Set to Begin

Pune, 1st July 2025: A total 72 players representing six teams will be seen in action at The fifth edition of the PYC – Realty Seven Chess League 2025 which is being organised by the PYC Hindu Gymkhana and played at the PYC Chess Hall from 4th to 6th of July 2025.
“We at the PYC host various leagues in different sports. For the fifth time, with the support of Mr. Kapil Trimal, Director of Realty Seven, we are hosting a chess league for our members. We are thankful to Mr. Kapil Trimal for their unparalleled support,” said Mr. Kumar Tamhane, President of PYC Hindu Gymkhana , Mr.Deepak Gadgil, Secretary and Mr.Sarang Lagu, Jt Secretary of PYC Hindu Gymkhana.
The players for the chess league were selected via auction, with Niranjan Godbole (39,000 points, Kings 64), Tanmay Chitale (30,000 points, 7 Knights), Kiran Khare (30,000 points, Golden Kings), and Mihir Naniwadekar (30,000 points, Goldfieldd Tridents) emerging as the top picks.Mr. Nandan Dongre has been appointed as tournament director.
Mr. Amod Pradhan, Chess Secretary, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, saying, “The players were selected via auction, and we have some highly talented individuals competing this year.”
The six teams competing in the league are:
1. 7 Knights – Owned by Kapil Trimal
2. Kings 64 – Owned by Amol & Shubhda Jog
3. Icon Warriors – Owned by Abhishek Tamhane
4. Wadeshwar Wizards – Owned by Swanand & Kaushik Bhave
5. Golden Kings – Owned by Niranjan Godbole
6. Goldfield Tridents – Owned by Anil Chhajed, Rohan, and Anuj Chhajed
