Pune: After Electricity Outage In Kondhwa Area Due To Damage To Power Lines, MSEDCL Files Complaint Against Contractor

Pune, 13th June 2022: After an electricity outage affected over 7,000 customers due to damage to underground power lines due to excavations, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has lodged a complaint with the Pune City Police against the contractor.

It is learned that power supply to Siddhivinayak sub-station is provided from Fursungi through 22 KV capacity underground power line and two power lines from this substation supply power to about 7000 customers in Sanlukhe Vihar, NIBM area and Sahyadri Park area of Kondhwa Road area. However, on Sunday (June 12) at 2.24 am, the power supply in the area was disrupted due to a breakdown in the power supply from Fursungi.

“MSEDCL engineers and staff immediately started technical measures to provide alternative power supply to the area as it was difficult to detect faults due to night darkness and rains. After that, till 7.45 am power supply was restored in all the areas through an alternative system. Meanwhile, while searching for a fault in the underground power line on Sunday morning, it was found that the underground power line of MSEDCL was broken in the excavation work for the drinking water pipeline near the Marvel Sanghria building on Undri Road.

There was a leak in the drinking water pipeline. Before starting the repair work, the water from the pit had to be pumped out. After that, work was done to install a giant on the power line. However, the power supply was disrupted due to the disconnection of power lines during the excavation and about 30,000 units of MSEDCL or about Rs five lakhs were lost. Therefore, a complaint has been lodged at the Kondhwa police station against the concerned contractor”, MSEDCL stated in a press release.
