Pune: Dhamne to clash with Shah in Boys Singles Finals at MSLTA ITF Asian B1 Championship

Pune , 23rd September 2022: Indian Surge continued as 14 year old Pune boy Manas Dhamne created history by becoming the youngest Indian boy to reach the Boys Singles finals at the MSLTA -PMDTA ITF Asian B1 Championships being organised by MSLTA PMDTA and played at the Deccan Gymkhana Courts in Pune.

In the final Manas will clash with Aryan Shah for the title , in a 2 hour six minute match fifth seeded Manas Dhamne upset third seeded Yuvan Nandal 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 while sixth seeded Ahmedabad boy Aryan Shah toppled second seeded Aman Dahiya 6-2, 7-6(4) in 1hour 30 minute match

In the Boys Doubles finals Indian pair ranked fourth upset the third seeded pair of Rushil Khosla (Ind) /Yuvan Nandal (Ind) [4] Woohyuk Chang Korea and Reiya Hattori Japan 7-6(4) 6-3

In the best match of the day witnessed by large crowds Manas Broke Nandal in the 5th game and went to win the set 6-3 , in the second set Yuvan played strongly to recover and raced to a 5-1 lead before losing 2 games on a trot and closing the set and forcing a decider . In the third set Manas played brilliant baseline tennis , made percentage serves and played intelligently to break Nanadal in the 9th game of the set and then went on to hold serve and win the set and the match and become the youngest Indian to play the finals of the Asian Championships

In the girls doubles semifinals Local Wildcard entry Asmi and Vaishnavi Adkar upset second seeded Emerson Jones and Lily Taylor of Australia 6-4, 6-2 and will now clash for the title with third seeds and another Australian pair of Lily Fairclough and Zara Larke who won against top seeded Shruti Ahlawat and Yu-Yun Li of Chinese Taipei after the pair conceded the match after losing the first set 6-1

The Boys Doubles winner got trophy, certificates and 225 ITF points, while runner up winner got trophy, certificates and 157 points. The prizes were given away at the hands of Mr.Sunder Iyer, Jt. Secretary of AITA and Hon Secretary of MSLTA, Mr.Ashwin Girme, Jt Director and Tennis Sec. of Deccan Gymkhana, Mr.Himanshu Gosavi of PMDTA and ITF Supervisor Vaishali Shekatkar were present on the occasion.
