Pune, 31st January 2023: The Pune district administration has conducted a survey to create employment for the citizens affected by the planned international airport project at Purandar. Accordingly, the work of creating a special website is going on to provide employment related to the project to the project victims in the age group of 18 to 40. This website is being developed with the help of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

To make the airport project economically viable, a multi-purpose cargo transportation and storage centre (Multi Model Hub Logistics Park) has been proposed at this location. As a prerequisite for land acquisition, the administration has started taking steps through welfare schemes. Accordingly, the work is going on to create a special website to employ the youth.

Speaking about this, Divisional Commissioner Saurabh Rao said, “The work is going on to computerize the separate information of youths between the ages of 18 and 35 from the affected families in this website. A training program will be implemented for the affected youth under the Skill Development Scheme. Preparations have been made to employ the youth as soon as the land acquisition notification is issued by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).”

According to a report prepared by MIDC, this site is the best commercial and economic development intention (IOD) for the airport site. There will be no problem with a multi-purpose freight and storage centre. Therefore, along with the airport, employment will be created through sources of financial income such as canteens, restaurants, food production (catering), parking lots, warehouses, parking lots, security systems, trade complexes, and others. The affected people are going to be included in these businesses.

Meanwhile, the seven affected villages of Vanpuri, Kumbaravalan, Udachiwadi, Ekhatpur, Munjwadi, Khanwadi and Pargaon in Purandar taluka have been determined as per the group-wise survey numbers of the area and number of affected families, number of persons in the family. On the website created by TCS, the information is being computerized through criteria such as educational qualification, interest and choice of youth. As soon as the land acquisition notification is announced, they will be given training under the skill development scheme with the consent of the youth. Also, decisions will be taken to employ the youth by implementing more special welfare schemes, said Divisional Commissioner Rao.

“Work is going on at the local administrative level to promulgate the notification for the land acquisition of the proposed airport in Purandar taluka. The land acquisition notification will be out in the next few days,” said Saurabh Rao, Divisional Commissioner.
