Pune: Farmer earns Rs 70,000 in just 30 days of lockdown

Pune, September 3, 2020: Farmer Prashant Said Patil earned Rs70,000 in a just 30 days through coriander leaves. Patil who hails from Padval village of Ambegaon taluka grew coriander and received a good price for his yield.
Apparently, due to lockdown the vegetable market was badly hit there was less demand for coriander. But Patil sensed this difficulty and turned it into an opportunity. He grew coriander in his 20 gunta land by sowing 25 kgs of coriander seeds. He grew 2,500 bunches of coriander. He spent only seven to eight thousand of rupees for seeds, fertilizers and pesticides.
Patil said, “there was less demand for vegetables in the initial period of lockdown, but it grew gradually. I sensed the rising demand and decided to go for it. Currently,  the price of one bunch of coriander leaves varies from Rs20 to Rs50 as per its quality.
Chas, Sakore, Mhalunge padval, Nandur, Kalamb, Sultanpur, Chandoli Budruk and many other villages from Ambegaon taluka are popular for growing coriander leaves.
